~About Us~
or,
Welcome to Our Home
Hi! My name is Heather, and I'm the owner and operator/designer of Leopardstripes Designs. I am a Certified Henna Artist through The International Certification For Natural Henna Arts organization, which means that I went through rigorous testing to prove that I understand the safe, healthy, and artistic use of henna, and other mehndi issues. You can find information on what this means at http://www.hennapage.com/henna/business/certification.html . (Believe me, this testing is far, far more difficult than most occupational licenses require! As I was lamenting to a fellow Certified Artist, Malynda of Mountain Mehndi, the other day, it would be nice if Foodhandler's Licenses required this level of knowledge and dedication!) Currently, and for the forseeable future, the company is being operated from our home, as is my husband's company. Mark is the owner and operator of Treasure Valley Orange Cab, considered by many to be the best taxi company in the Treasure Valley. (And as an aside- he's a really great guy!) The household also includes our two active young children, a border-collie-mix dog, a scattering of cats, and several tanks of fish. Our place is best described as "boisterous", and is frequently loud, silly, and active. I tell you this now, because I realize that there are folks out there who are unaccustomed to the levels of noise and nonsense that a household with young kids can generate. Consider yourself forewarned, when you come for a visit!

If you'd like to come over to have some mehndi done, or look at some jewelry, be aware that the house may not look like a candidate for Better Homes and Gardens all the time- as happens, when you have kids, there is sometimes mud on the floor. There may be toys scattered about. There might be a Dust Bunny (and possibly his entire family), or the flower beds might not have been weeded in some time. Doubtless, there will b
e something less than picture perfect. What I can promise you, though, is that I'll always have some really nice tea or chai around (from Taste Of Serendipity Teas, a local importer of the highest-quality Ceylon teas- nice folks, reasonable prices, and a fantastic selection!),and if it's nice outside, we can sit out on the patio, in relative peace, to drink it. If it's not, well, there's plenty of space at our table. Who knows, there may even be something tasty there. (I'm a former professional cook/chef- good stuff frequently finds its way to our table.)

And just to let you know- your children are welcome to come over, too. As a family, we enjoy kids and the energy that they bring. My kids love meeting other children, and I'm betting that yours do, also. It's more than OK to bring 'em with you- we encourage it! While they're here, if you're getting mehndi done, I'll be happy to decorate them, too, with your permission. (As mentioned elsewhere on this site, we can't do henna work on kids under 8, but I try to have some nifty temporary tattoos on hand, and there's always bindis, too.) So bring 'em along, it saves you having to get a babysitter!

So, this is who we are- when you decide that you'd like to come and meet us, make an appointment- you and yours will be welcome here! When you're ready, click
